  1. Benzaldehyde (C6H5CHO) is a colourless liquid
  2. with the characteristic odour of almonds. It 
  3. is used as a solvent and in the making of 
  4. perfumes and dyes. It occurs in certain 
  5. leaves, such as the cherry, laurel, and 
  6. peach, and in a combined form in certain nuts
  7. and kernels. It can be extracted from such 
  8. natural sources, but is usually made from 
  9. toluene.
